Before joining the Health Foundation in May 2014, Anita Charlesworth was Chief Economist at the Nuffield Trust for four years where she led the Trust’s work on health care financing and market mechanisms.
Anita was Chief Analyst and Chief Scientific Advisor at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport from 2007 to 2010 and, prior to this, she was Director of Public Spending at the Treasury from 1998-2007, where she led the team working with Sir Derek Wanless on his reform of NHS funding in 2002. Anita has a Masters in Health Economics from York University and has worked as an Economic Advisor in the Department of Health and for SmithKline Beecham pharmaceuticals in the UK and USA.
Anita is Vice-Chair of the Whittington Hospital NHS Trust and a Trustee of Tommy’s, the baby charity.
Marc Noppen, MD, PhD, serves as Chief Executive Officer of the Brussels’ University Hospital UZ Brussel. He is pulmonologist by training, and holds a PhD in Health Sciences. He has authored or co-authored more than 145 scientific peer reviewed papers and book chapters, and was visiting professor at various universities and university hospitals ( Boston, Montreal, Lille, Perth )He has additional degrees in Pharmaco-economics ( University Antwerp) and management ( INSEAD ).He is associate professor at the Vrije University Brussel, and guest professor at Vlerick Business School Leuven-Gent in Strategic Hospital Management. Marc serves as a Director in a variety of academic and business-related Boards.
Christian Pinnow is an associated partner of Dierks + Bohle, a leading life science and health care law firm in Germany with 30 lawyers highly specialized in these fields. He is a formally qualified attorney for medical law and part of the panel doctor and hospital law practice group within the firm. The main areas of consultancy are Law governing the medical profession, hospital law and legal aspects of statutory health insurance.
Pieter Van Herck is senior policy advisor at Voka – Flemish Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the field of social enterpreneurship, welfare and health care. He focuses on reforms in care payment systems, governance, care integration, competition, innovation and digitalization from an intersectoral perspective. Previously, Pieter worked as a research fellow at the LIGB – KU Leuven and as a senior advisor at the Itinera think tank. He holds a phd in public health and a postgraduate in finance.
