(2009-...): Community building support Flanders Smart Hub

Intro

The Flanders Smart Hub project was established in 2009 to further strenghten the capabilities of Flemish Brabant and stimulate innovative entrepreneurship. The ‘triple helix’ cooperation between businesses, government and knowledge institutions has a positive impact on the entrepreneurial climate in the region. The focus of Flanders Smart Hub is on three sectors that excel in scientific and technological know-how and have enormous economic potential:

Lifetech: pharmaceutical industry, medical devices, red biotech, functional feed and food industry, healthcare healthcare prevention applications

Cleantech: energy and environment

Logistech: transport, logistics and supply chain management

Vrije Universiteit Brussel, CROSSTALKS and the Technology Transfer Interface are working closely together with the 3 Flanders Smart Hub clusters.

In each of these sectors the aim is to group the dynamic players into clusters. This implies as well the organization of informal networking activities as the initiation and development of communities and the set-up of genuine partnerships between businesses and research institutions.

To round up a first series of events within the Logistech cluster and the Community Sustainable Logistics, CROSSTALKS and Flanders Smart Hub published "In het Spoor van de Mier", a picture and notebook with highlights from the 5 sessions. Download the booklet here.

The project is supported by the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRO), the Hermes Fund of the Flemish Government, the Province of Flemish Brabant and the POM Flemish Brabant.
